Aquilla runs in your browser at aquilla.app: there’s nothing to download or install.

Creating an account

Choose Sign up free on aquilla.app, or Create an account under the sign-in form. Sign-up takes three short screens, with step dots at the top tracking your place:

1. On the welcome screen, choose Get started.
2. Help us improve: decide whether to share usage data, then choose Continue. You can change this any time in Preferences. If you already made this choice in this browser, the screen is skipped.
3. Create an Aquilla account: choose a username and give an email address and a password, then choose Create account.

Already have an account? Choose Log in under the form instead. Back returns to the previous screen and keeps what you’ve typed.

Share usage data starts on; turn it off before you choose Continue if you prefer.

Below the password field, a checklist shows the two things Aquilla asks for and ticks each one off as you type:

• At least 8 characters, and
• Does not contain your email.

Once you start typing, a strength meter appears under the checklist and reads weak, medium or strong. Longer passwords, and ones with numbers and symbols, score higher, so you can watch yours get stronger. The eye button in the password field reveals what you’ve typed, so you can catch typos before you submit.

If the username or email already belongs to an account, Aquilla says so under the form: “An account with this username or email already exists. If you already use Codex, sign in with those credentials — your account and projects come across automatically.” Choose the Sign in button under that message and the sign-in form opens with what you typed already filled in.

Signing in

Return to aquilla.app any time, choose Open app, and sign in on the Sign in screen with your Aquilla username or email and password, then choose Log in. Your session keeps you signed in across visits on the same device and browser.

If you enter the wrong password too many times in a row, Aquilla briefly locks out further attempts on that account as a security measure: wait a few minutes and try again. See Common issues.

Resetting a forgotten password

If you can’t remember your password, use the Forgot password? link on the sign-in screen. Aquilla emails you a reset link; follow it to choose a new password (the same strength checklist applies), and you’ll be signed back in. Resetting your password also signs out any other device or browser tab that was signed into your account. If you use Aquilla in more than one place, you’ll need to sign in again there too.

Enter the email you registered with and choose Send reset link.

Switching between accounts on one device

Translation teams often share a device, and project managers sometimes need to demo several projects under different accounts. Aquilla supports multiple accounts on one device with one-click switching, no signing out and back in each time.

Each account keeps its own local settings and cached projects, so switching accounts gives you a clean, separate workspace.

Note

Account switching keeps each account’s data separate in this browser. Editor settings and “resume where I left off” are stored per account and per device; they don’t follow you to a different computer. See Editor settings.

Joining from an invite

If someone invites you to a project or organization and you’re signed out when you open the link, the join page lets you sign in with an existing account, or switch to “Need an account? Sign up” and “Create an account to accept your invitation” right there. If a project invite was sent to your email, the sign-up form fills that email in for you.

An organization invitation is checked first. If the link is invalid, already used, or expired, you see Invitation unavailable instead of a sign-in form: ask the person who invited you for a new link. If the check can’t finish, Couldn’t check invitation offers Retry.

The sign-in form on an organization invitation has a Forgot password? link too. After you reset your password from the email and sign in, Aquilla takes you back to the same invitation, even if you open the email in another browser. You still choose Accept invitation to join.
